If you’re like us and you follow Kylie Jenner on every platform that exists, you’ll know that her BFF Jordyn Woods is kind of a big deal. Actually, she’s a really big deal. At the tender age of 19, she’s created a huge following for herself (, to be exact), she has a successful modelling career, appearing in major fashion campaigns and walking for NYFW—and now she can now add designer to her growing resume. The multi-hyphenate recently teamed up with Canadian -size fashion retailer to create a young, trendy and wearable fashion collection that debuted at NYFW. Here’s what she had to say about the line, social media dos and don’ts and who she looks up to.
Tell us about the collection. Do you have a fave piece?
All of my clothing is inspired by the ’90s. I wanted to do something a little bit different though. There’s different kinds of patterns and wide leg pants… it’s very fun and trendy and fresh. There’s a lot of cute pieces that are very wearable. [The collection] definitely had to have a denim jacket. And we actually have a very cute one. I’ve never seen anything like it before. It’s my favourite piece. It’s cute because you can wear it really with any outfit.
What have you noticed that often gets overlooked or forgotten with other curvy fashion clothing lines?
One thing I love about Addition Elle is that they provide a good range of clothing but it’s also very good quality and it fits very well. Whereas most size brands that I’ve seen or brands for curvy girls, the clothing is okay but the material is all loose and it’s not good quality. It doesn’t fit well. And then I’ve seen the craziest patterns… if you’re trying to look snatch, you’re not trying to walk around in bright neon clothing or crazy patterns. I love that Addition Elle has really good quality clothing and also really cute styles.
Do you have role models who inspire you?
I’d say anyone that, you know, wakes up and owns their body and doesn’t care what anyone has to say [is] a role model… it’s kind of rare that you find someone that just doesn’t care what people have to say. And any girl I see on Instagram that’s not afraid to be real and show their true self, is kind of an inspiration for me.
What do you think still needs to improve in the fashion industry for curvy women?
We definitely still need to evolve. I love knowing that we could go to a high fashion brand or a trendy store and know that there’s going to be an option for us and things that we like. Eventually, we’ll get there.
You’re a social media queen. What are your do’s and don’ts?
Do be yourself. Do not listen to what anyone else has to say. Do post whatever you like. Don’t start fights on Instagram or Twitter whatever. And you shouldn’t post anything that you wouldn’t want to see for the rest of your life.
On that note, do you ever do a social media detox?
I’ve been trying to not go on Instagram too much, because I realize I don’t really care that much. I don’t care about people’s lunches. I’m trying to focus on being in the moment and living my own… I haven’t gone on a full detox but we’ll get there.
If you weren’t doing what you’re doing today, what kind of career would you have?
When I was younger, I wanted to be a doctor. I realized as I got older, I’m not going to school for ten years. If not longer. And I also realized I don’t like hospitals. So, the doctor thing was out. I love animals. Maybe I’d do something with animals.
