It seems like Samantha Jones may have sipped her last cosmo. At a press conference at the Aruba Film Festival for her new movie Meet Monica Velour, Kim Cattrall said she’s unsure if another Sex and the City movie will ever be made. “I don’t know if it will happen,” she said. “I would love playing Samantha Jones again, but I don’t know if I will.”
Just a week ago at the Samsung for Hope Children’s Gala in NYC Mr. Big himself dashed the dreams of SATC-lovers everywhere by saying another movie was unlikely. Apparently Big’s ego was a little bruised by the bashing SATC 2 received by movie critics last year. “They made like we had killed somebody’s mother making that movie,” he said. “I don’t think there will be another one.”
But don’t worry, Carrie (the character who REALLY matters) is still holding out hope. At the Cannes Film Festival she said, “I think there is perhaps one more small, important story to tell.” But if that story will ever be told remains a mystery. “Whether or not we choose to do that and when we choose to do that remains, obviously, the unknown, but it’s nice to ponder.” Thanks for the clarification SJP.
In the meantime we’ll have to make do with a slightly older-looking and dressed down version of Samantha Jones. Here’s the trailer for Meet Monica Velour. – Regan Reid
