Is Bekah M’s Apology the Absolute Worst or the Absolute Best?

We weigh the pros and cons of *the* most dramatic apology in Bachelor history

Apologies are hard, but if you’re looking for some #sorrynotsorry inspo, Bekah Martinez has you covered.

Bekah may no longer be on The Bachelor, but her recent Twitter shade against off-again-maybe-on-again Tia Booth and Colton Underwood brought some classic Bachelor Nation drama to social media.

It all started after episode three of The Bachelorette, when Becca Kufrin confronted Colton—who is currently a contestant on her season—about his prior romantic relationship with Tia, who was a contestant on Arie’s season of The Bachelor along with Becca. While both Tia and Colton claimed their relationship was dunzo, recently show this duo heating things up on the tropical set of Bachelor in Paradise. As ultimate Bach Nation insider Reality Steve points out, this was a fairly predictable turn of events—but Bekah was not happy.

“Tia + Colton: ‘yeah Becca, we’re both 100% over each other!,’” Bekah after seeing the photos. “‘We’re TOTALLY not planning on getting back together/probably engaged the minute we’re in paradise (we’re gonna get so many followers from this manufactured narrative lol).”

This prompted Tia’s bestie Raven Gates to fire back, claiming Bekah was only stirring the pot to gain followers and was in reality, a bad friend to both Tia and the current Bachelorette Becca. Raven has since deleted her , but the whole sitch was obviously on Bekah’s mind, leading to her apologetic-ish tweet on June 19. Bekah has been a divisive AF Bach Nation contestant, which leads us to ask, was her apology the absolute best or the absolute worst?

Why Bekah’s apology is the absolute best

Opening her tweet storm and blessing us with some realness in the AM, Bekah did *not* beat around the bush. “I woke up this morning realizing I regret blasting Tia + Colton on social media,” she tweeted. “Regardless of my feelings about the situation, a sarcastic tweet is not the way to handle it.” Bekah then admits (in all caps) to promising Tia “months ago” that she’d “stop the shit-talking.”

I woke up this morning realizing I regret blasting Tia+Colton on social media. Regardless of my feelings about the situation, a sarcastic tweet is not the way to handle it. There ARE less petty/immature routes to take, and I HAD promised Tia months ago I’d stop the shit-talking.

“I got heated and caught up in what I was feeling and wanted people to hate on them cause I felt like the situation was unjust,” she continued.

So I guess what I’m saying is I’m sorry. I got heated and caught up in what I was feeling and wanted people to hate on them cause I felt like the situation was unjust. It’s really not my place to be the justice police, as much as I wish it was.

And I mean, same. Who among us hasn’t seriously jumped to conclusions and led with our heart over our brain, only to calm down later and realize that maybe we were being *a bit* irrational?

But the best part of Bekah’s apology is that it’s so her. By now, the Bekah we know and love is a quirky acne advocate with Twitter-happy fingers, who maybe doesn’t always make the best decisions. She says what she thinks, often unfiltered—and in this case, Bekah stated where she was wrong, but stood her ground. In doing so, she once again proved that although she was the baby of Arie’s season—she was 22 when the show was filming—she’s still one of the more mature contestants on the show. (And as a reminder, it was Tia who decided to throw Bekah under the bus and tell Arie that at 22, Bekah wasn’t ready or mature enough for marriage. Rude.)

Bekah owned her unapologetic realness, letting her 97,000 followers know that like infamous and current problematic figure Kanye West, she only speaks for herself.

no one makes me say anything. not ABC, not a publicist, not other bach people.

Why Bekah’s apology is the absolute worst

Although Bekah did *technically* say sorry, we can’t help but take it very lightly. The former baby Bachelor contestant only apologized for the tone of her initial tweet, never directly apologizing to Tia. “To clarify, I could have still kept it real and spoken my truth in a less abrasive, less shit-stirring way,” she says. “The issue is the way I handled it, not the content.”

Bekah also failed to mention or apologize to Raven for their Twitter feud (although an @ might be pointless, since Raven ), leading us to believe that she’s definitely not sorry about her war-of-words with Tia’s bestie (and apparent defender).

And just in case there was any confusion, bb Bekah 100% doubled down on her unfavourable opinion. When a follower tweeted at Bekah saying that they agreed with her initial position that Tia is shady, Bekah’s response was basically the epitome of #sorrynotsorry.

I don’t think I was wrong, just think I could’ve handled it better

— bekah martinez (@whats_ur_sign_)

Whether Bekah was out of line or Tia is truly shady is still up for debate, but one thing is clear: we cannot wait to watch this drama unfold on the upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise.
